OMALA S4 WE 320

Shell Omala S4 WE 320 is an advanced synthetic industrial gear oil specifically formulated for heavy-duty worm gear systems. Utilizing high-quality polyalkylene glycol (PAG) base oils and specialized additives, it delivers exceptional lubrication performance under severe operating conditions.

Key Features and Benefits:

  • Extended Oil Life – Maintenance Savings: The superior oxidation and thermal stability of Shell Omala S4 WE 320 enable prolonged oil life, reducing the formation of harmful oxidation products even at elevated temperatures. This leads to extended maintenance intervals and enhanced system cleanliness.
  • Excellent Wear Protection: Engineered with high load-carrying capacity, this oil provides robust protection against wear, including resistance to micro-pitting. It ensures the longevity of critical components, even under shock-loading conditions.
  • Enhanced System Efficiency: Shell Omala S4 WE 320’s unique formulation improves energy efficiency and reduces operating temperatures in worm gear applications. Tests have demonstrated efficiency improvements of up to 15% compared to mineral oil-based products and 11% over other synthetic lubricants.

Applications:

  • Enclosed Industrial Worm Gear Systems: Ideal for worm gear reduction systems operating under severe conditions, including high loads and extreme temperatures.
  • Extended Life Systems: Suitable for applications with infrequent maintenance or limited accessibility, such as wind turbine installations.
  • Other Applications: Applicable for lubricating bearings and other components in circulating and splash-lubricated systems. Note: Not recommended for components made from aluminum or aluminum alloys.

Specifications and Approvals:

  • Meets DIN 51517-3 (CLP) specifications.
  • Approved by leading manufacturers, including Bonfiglioli.

Compatibility and Miscibility:

Shell Omala S4 WE 320 is based on polyalkylene glycols and is not compatible with mineral oils or most other synthetic lubricants. When transitioning from such products, it’s essential to thoroughly flush the system to prevent mixing. Additionally, ensure compatibility with seal materials, as PAG-based oils may affect certain seal types.

Typical Physical Characteristics:

  • Kinematic Viscosity at 40°C: 321 mm²/s
  • Kinematic Viscosity at 100°C: 52.7 mm²/s
  • Viscosity Index: 230
  • Flash Point (COC): 270°C
  • Pour Point: -39°C
